Admin Rock Roundup – July 9, 2012

Back with Admin_Rock’s weekly look at what’s hot, and what’s cool, (at least in his world.)

FILM

I went to a movie!!!! RRT and I went to see “Amazing Spider-Man”. I was a bit reluctant, due to the decreasing awesomeness of the previous incarnations, but I was happily wrong. It was quite good. I liked the actors, liked the set pieces, and the action was much more “Spidery” than the earlier films. The Lizard as the villain was a brilliant choice. It really played to the animal nature, and their fights were brilliant. The love story seemed very realistic to me.

James Bond watching now up to “For Your Eyes Only”. The end of the Moore years is in sight.

MUSIC

Rejigged some iTunes smart playlists, to make a list of song I’ve never actually played from my collection, as well as a list of songs less than 1:30 in length, and most played in the last 6 months. Best find was a track “A New Season” by The Church from the Starfish album.

TV

Rewatched first two seasons of “The League” this week. Super funny, very enjoyable. Other than that, spent more time outside, less TV. Sorry TV, I still love you.

BOOKS

Storm of Swords on hold, I’m seriously considering finding someone who has read it, and getting “important page numbers”, as there is so much tiring bullshit in that book that it bores me to sleep. I picked up “Why We Get Fat” (ironic, now that I’ve finished my weight loss plan. final tally was 43 lbs, 19% of my body weight. I’m 185 now). Also, “Everything Good is Bad For You”, and on M-Daddy’s recommendation “Ready Player One”. Keeping that one for the flight down to SDCC.

COMICS

Read a bit more of Starman, haven’t really seen what the hype is all about yet, but plugging away. Saga is really good, I’d highly recommend, but if you’re a comic reader, you’re probably already reading it.

LEGO

Built the Batcave this week, and two of the LOTR sets, with my kids. Also picked up a train, and put that together.
