Admin Rock Roundup Aug 2, 2012
Back with Admin_Rock’s weekly look at what’s hot, and what’s cool, (at least in his world.)
Hey folks, normally this happens on Monday, but I was busy earlier this week, better late than never.
FILM
Watched that body switch movie with Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds. The fact that I’m too disinterested to either remember the title or look it up even says about all you need to know. Also watched part of the Godfather, but really that happens almost weekly. You should just assume I’ve watched the Godfather unless I declare otherwise. Also watched “Dorian Gray” w Colin Firth. It was decent, but a bit too long. Also, the best of the Moore Bond films, “For Your Eyes Only”. I can’t wait for the end of the Moore run, but really, it doesn’t get THAT much better. I long for the early days of my Bond-a-thon, when things were innocent, and less hacky.
MUSIC
Dug the the hell out of the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics, so lots of Britpop this week. Arctic Monkeys, Blur, and a little Dizzee Rascal ftw. Also the new Stars single “Hold On When You Get Love, and Let Go When You Give It”.
TV
Caught up on Season 7 Futurama, which is decent, but not groundbreaking. Also rewatching some Season 3 Sopranos. Such a well crafted show. “Mr. Ruggerio’s Neighborhood” is worth rewatching a time or two.
BOOKS
Working through “Why We Get Fat”, as research (after the fact). Spoiler: It’s bread.
COMICS
Nothing mindblowing this week, but many decent stories. Getting closer to dropping titles like Green Lantern, and even Animal Man has lost it’s edge for my tastes (though the Annual was fantastic).
LEGO
Finished a commission piece for a wedding, and also an art piece for consideration for a local art show. Built a Batman set with my boys, and now much sorting to be done.
Till next week, share your likes and dislikes, recommend things and such.
